Where does seaweed live?
Seaweed lives in every sea and ocean on the planet. The main seaweed used for human consumption lives in salt water, although we can find it as well in rivers, lakes and other freshwater locations. Some seaweed populations can even develop on surfaces remaining humid for a while.

Some seaweeds, called phytoplankton, live floating in the water and are a basic element in the diet of fish. Others live fixed to a substrate or to other seaweeds and are called benthic seaweed.

Seaweed does not usually live isolated. It grows in big populations that form beautiful forests under the water.
